Create your Smart Field:
  1. Navigate to Administration, then click on Smart Fields.
    • Note: If you do not see smart fields on the Administration tab, please contact your system role administrator to have the Smart Fields system role assigned to your user
  2. Click Add
  3. Select Constituent revenue application counts and click OK
  4. Name the smart field
  5. Go to the Parameters tab
  6. Select the value to return as Consecutive giving years
  7. Mark the revenue types and applications/transaction types that should be included
  8. Enter a date range, if needed, or leave the dates blank to look at all years
    • Note: By default consecutive giving years will look to the present date. If Constituents have not given in this calendar year and the end date is in this calendar year they will not pull. This is so that if someone gave in 2005 and 2006, in 2006 they would have given in 2 consecutive years. However, if they do not give again until 2011 and give every following year then the 2005 and 2006 information would not be counted.
  9. (Optional) Under Application Selection, you can narrow your smart field further using a Revenue Application query selection. For example, if you would like to only calculate donations to certain designations in your totals, you can create a selection of revenue to those designations only.
  10. Click Save
Process Smart Field results:
  1. Once your Smart field is saved, find it from the list of Smart Fields in your database and click the hyperlinked name
  2. In the top left hand corner under Tasks, click Start Process
Add Smart Field Value to your query:

  2. Click drop down next to your query and select Edit. If your query is not created yet, select Add ad-hoc query. Select your source view, then click OK.
  3. In the left column, expand Smart Fields and select your Smart field created above. From the middle, drag Value from the middle to Results Fields to Display
    • Note: Smart fields do not process or update automatically.  Go to the Job Schedules tab, and add a job schedule to process the smart field on a regular basis.
  4. Click Set save options tab and Name the query.
  5. If you will be using this query elsewhere in Altru, mark to Create a selection.
